“Set amidst Marconi’s spectacular car collection, the most stunning part of Vision Beyond Sight was the inspiring stories of individuals who triumphed over the obstacle of vision loss.”
A few months ago Vision Beyond Sight hosted its fundraising event at The Marconi and raised over $200,000 (the most they’ve ever raised!) to support its low vision support services for children from birth to age 22 throughout Orange County.
Blind Children’s Learning Center mission is to prepare children with visual impairments for a life of independence through early intervention, education, and family support. You can contact the organization at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information or questions.
What made the event the most unique event ever held at the museum was…guests dined in the dark in order to personally experience the challenge of vision loss.
The Center honored long-time supporters Bob and Nadine Hall with this short video below that shares his own story with debilitating childhood cataracts.
As an ongoing effort to build relationships with our event clients, we asked these follow up questions about their experience at The Marconi. Here is what the Associate Director of Development at Blind Children’s Learning Center Kevin F. had to say:
1. What was the best part of your event?
The best part of Vision Beyond Sight was bringing our esteemed guests closer to the experience of children who are blind and visually impaired. Our hope is by experiencing the minor inconvenience of enjoying a great meal with limited use of vision; they will gain compassion and be more motivated to help our children overcome obstacles. Our longtime benefactors Bob & Nadine Hall were honored at the event, and it was just as much an honor for us — if not more. We are grateful to have welcomed the Halls and their supportive friends to the worthwhile cause of improving lives for children with visual impairments.
- Which car in the museum seemed to be a crowd favorite?
It’s hard to pick a favorite! We received many comments about how much guests enjoyed socializing and dining amongst classic cars. The more classic, the better.
- How much money did you raise? Was it higher than in previous years?
We are so thrilled to have raised over $200,000 towards direct services that make a direct impact on hundreds of lives. It’s the most Blind Children’s Learning Center has ever raised in a single night.
